For photographing stairs. Any stairs. I even put several pictures of stairs in my senior show. They are so mysterious. So haunting. It’s like an afterthought.
From my senior show: It’s about a Man, His Wife and His Mistress, all photos are copyright by sierrabennettdesigndesign
I love how you can photograph them in so many different perspectives.
I miss photography. I need to photograph more. And I will.
Ok I have real live crush..on
Madewell. They have some unique and cute stuff, made for the urban outfitters fan except probably a little better quality and more classy. I’ve seen a lot of talk from my favorite blogs about this store. I think they need one in Habersham. Ok, Alpharetta, GA is more of their clientele.
These are my favorites from the sale section- all photos and clothing pieces are from http://www.madewell.com/
I love all of these. I wish they weren’t so expensive, but it is made-well.
Also, Anthropologie is having a huge sale!:http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/index.jsp
Peace:)
Waitress is one of my favorite movies. I love the story line- the realness and the ridiculousness of the characters, blended together so perfectly. It is written and directed by Adrienne Shelly– who also co-starred in this movie.
I read about her once in Cosmopolitan magazine once before I even saw the film. She died and was thought to have committed suicide but was actually killed. Her story was one I remembered. She left behind a little girl and a husband. I saw Waitress a few years later and immediately recognized her name. I, of course, looked up on imbd to see where I recognized this name.
This movie had such an impact on me, the characters were so beautifully themselves, the music for the scenes were perfect with it and the story line was flawless. I’m so inspired by her. Her husband put up a foundation in her name for female directors: http://www.adrienneshellyfoundation.org/
I really enjoy analyzing movies. See I took a script-writing class and learned how to really break apart a scene. I did The Virgin Suicides. Another film I love. I remember how in that class I was always inspired creatively and compelled to create small stories I had thought up into something (Carrie Schrader was an amazing teacher so that didn’t hurt- her current project :www.kickstarter.com/projects/1880224680/the-nuggets?ref=home_location). At the end of the class I wrote a short script (psychological crime)- so rewarding.
So in 2013, my “New Years’ Resolution” is to finish writing a short script I’ve been working on. To take a little time each day to do so. There is a major one I’ve been working on for about 3 years + and I have a lot of development on the characters but there are so many more techniques I can use to really enhance the characters. It’s a story that I’ve created that I feel super strong about. About 4 sisters who are distant after their mother’s death and how it gets mended back together despite their opposition to do so. But it’s also so much more than that! It needs to be told now, I also have many other stories I want to work on.
While I was reading through my favorite blogs that I get inspiration from I saw A Beautiful Mess‘ page on their quick DIY Ideas.
That got me thinking. I am making gifts this year, mainly because I’m skint. But also because I also thought that my friends might like a sweet homemade gift that is art.
I like to paint and wanted to paint a couple of canvases with a really cool print (from metallic paint and paper doily design) for my friend’s mom. Her style is Modern Nature so I wanted to go for a grey blue color with a bronze metallic color.
Then I had some extra paint left over and decided to make a new color. I’m going for an owl on a tree and of course I must let the paint dry. The pictures are of the beginning of the gifts.
I have my old roommates a scrapbook I’ve been working on forever that is of their honeymoon in New Zealand and Fuji. I also made these Hers and His frames for each side of their bedside table.
I will show finished gifts tomorrow. I am going to use the journal/stamp idea for my friend’s little sister Rachel. It’s a cute idea and I’m obsessed with the metallic paint.
Okay folks. I’ve moved in with my parents- you can read my activities/feelings on that at my other blog. From this I haven’t really been designing as much mainly because my laptop with my programs haven’t been working great (time for a new laptop once I get some moola!) and I’ve been avoiding it like the plague.
but now I’m back. Now the graphics I created are for my other blog and took me like maybe an hour for both. They are simple and get the point across, which is my style. And cutesy, which I also like.
In the next few days I will be showing new and old graphics. Some are for business, some are for me. I really need to practice my graphic design knowledge. It’s been awhile since I’ve designed and the art of design is something I truly enjoy.
I love the shorts with tights look. However I didn’t know if I could get away with it. While I was looking at ShopRuche.com I saw this metallic shorts. They were so cute and fun. I decided to play with the colors. I chose a navy tight, cute retro heels, a green/blue scarf, light top and a tweed jacket to pull the different colors and look together. I really love playing around with different color palettes and seeing how they work. Navy is a great neutral I feel that a lot of people tend to stay away from. But it’s much less harsh than black. This would be cute for a date or a cool party.
It’s not easy to combine pattern and colors. For most outfits I start with one central piece, for me it was the bag. Then match it to one item, like an accessory and make it visually interesting. The bag matches the belt and the some of the colors in the dress. Then I added a similar color to the dress with the tights, but a lighter variation of that color. It wasn’t too crazy of a print so it went well with the dress print.
I really love the socks with boots over tights look and wanted to try it. I also wanted to add some color, I love the burgundy on these boots. It’s beautiful and it pops out from the outfit. It also stays in a color family. Then I added a burgundy color necklace to match that piece. It’s the little things that matter. I dislike outfits that are too matchy-matchy. I don’t believe in shoes and purses matching (nor do I agree with eye-shadow matching outfit)because it dates an outfit. I really love that coat and the winter white, it goes great with the accessories of the outfit.
It should be fun and reflect your personality. I found this to be the best way to feel confident when you need to have a little oomph to your mindset!
