“The Rings” Act I

These are pictures from my Senior Show, Act I of “The Rings”: A Cinematic Storytelling by Sierra Bennett

I remember how much effort it took to make these, how much time and how I was taking like 6 classes along with doing my senior show. I also had a job waitressing. I don’t know how I did it. Probably the drive to make something I truly believed in. Something I made. I was influenced by Cindy Sherman’s classic ” Untitled Film Stills” and her use of Noir settings (look it up kids- I mean it!). I think she is amazing and was really drawn to her in Art History. She was a woman after my own heart. Doing her makeup, costumes and putting together a miniature story.

I love storytelling, it’s an art form that is unto itself. I realized I wanted to make sense of a story instead of just random film stills. I felt as though I was telling a story I could still leave the audience guessing.

*Fun fact: These were taken at the Appalachian Student Center at North Georgia College & State University. It’s a really old house. really creep and I promise we heard some freaky noises that no one could have done or that could be explained*

Stay tuned for Act II tomorrow!

Curves with Confidence

I’m a curvy girl, whether I’m smaller or bigger I always have/had curves.

When dressing my curves I like to add to play them up. Now for a dress look, I would say add a belt or a blazer. Blazers are my favorite- the structured blazer is your friend! It nips you in and creates the illusion of a waist if you don’t have a natural one. You can play them dress, casual or work appropriate.  Belts, especially skinny belts also do wonders my friend- they can make a waist on a beautiful sheath dress.

My new creation/look:

Curves with Confidence
Word of advice: Don’t be afraid of color. Nothing says confidence like color. I love the blue and the berry booties. Completely different colors yet pair with the right neutrals go together and pull this outfit together. I also don’t believe in being matching with my silvers and golds. It’s fun to add them together as long as they are on the same spectrum, ie metallic gold with metallic silver, dulled silver with dulled gold etc.
Also shapewear may sound and feel like the devil. But it is your friend. No lumps and bumps here! I really like the whole body shapewear, yes maybe uncomfortable to go to the bathroom but that’s only for a little moment. Unlike half body shapewear where it cuts into All Day.
Now enjoy your winter day with some color, confidence and a smile!

Bewitching

Bewitched

I’ve always loved watching Bewitched and one of the main reasons, especially when I was little, was the fashion. I loved the styles of Samantha and especially the wild Sabrina. I’ve always been a fan of retro clothing and my favorite websites for such clothing are: shopruche, modcloth and shabby apple.  They have such cute clothing and accessories!

Below is a little outfit consisting of all three websites and inspired by Bewitched.
